BOT announces expanded checks on large branch cash transactions from 1 November
BOT says expanded checks on specified large branch cash transactions took effect on 1 November 2026. Ask your bank which requirements apply.
The Bank of Thailand says expanded checks on specified large cash-related transactions at bank branches took effect on 1 November 2026. Its 26 October announcement identifies Notification 57/2569 and describes additional customer, source-of-funds and transaction-purpose checks according to risk.
Before arranging a substantial branch cash transaction, ask your bank which evidence applies. The BOT guidance distinguishes transaction types, including different cheque and draft circumstances; this is not a universal document checklist or an ATM withdrawal limit.
The announcement distinguishes branch transactions from electronic channels. That does not remove other checks or obligations on electronic transfers, or suggest that splitting transactions avoids scrutiny. No processing time or outcome is guaranteed.
