The Immigration Bureau has clarified health insurance requirements for various long-stay visa categories, effective November 1, 2025.

Minimum Coverage Amounts

Non-Immigrant O-A (Retirement):

  • Inpatient Care: 400,000 THB minimum (unchanged)
  • Outpatient Care: 40,000 THB minimum (unchanged)
  • COVID-19 Coverage: No longer specifically required
  • Policy Duration: Must cover entire visa validity period

Non-Immigrant O-X (5-year):

  • Inpatient Care: 3,000,000 THB minimum (increased from 400,000 THB)
  • Outpatient Care: 120,000 THB minimum (increased from 40,000 THB)
  • Additional: Emergency evacuation coverage recommended
  • Validity: Must maintain throughout 5-year period

LTR Visa Holders:

  • Coverage: Following international standards
  • Amount: Minimum $100,000 USD equivalent coverage
  • Scope: Worldwide coverage including Thailand
  • Providers: International insurers accepted

Acceptable Policy Types

Newly Clarified:

  • Local Thai Insurers: All licensed companies accepted
  • International Policies: Must include Thailand coverage
  • Travel Insurance: Acceptable only for stays under 90 days
  • Employer Coverage: Corporate policies accepted with verification letter
